Road to Minecraft 1.0 is On Hiatus

I really wanted to avoid doing this, but it seems unavoidable now.

Real life has gotten a bit too crazy, and since I fell behind back in November, I've never been able to fully catch up.

Right now, it's looking like at least another week before I can devote any real attention to the project again. Additionally, I was playing Uncharted 4 up until Metroid Prime 4 came out, and now I'm playing them both... or, well, I was playing them both. The reality is, shortly after I started Prime 4, the crazy started, and I've never even made it to the second boss fight due to a lack of time.

I hurried and caught up to 2010-06-24 eventually due to the importance of that version to me, but I somewhat regret doing that. I think it ultimately turned out okay, since all of those versions were mostly incremental changes that each still had notable playability issues, but covering the versions in real-time was the goal of the project. By speeding through several versions in one post, I undermined that goal.

To handle this issue, I'm going to adjust the schedule to show proper respect to the future versions of the game. After all, some important game versions are coming up, and I think they deserve my full attention.

This will necessitate a couple of changes:

  • The previous two posts will have their dates and day numbers adjusted to be the dates that I originally planned to post them. For transparency (not that anybody really cares too much), I will state as much in the edited posts and disclose what the originally stated dates were.
  • Infdev 2010-06-25, which should have originally been covered on 2025-11-28, will be covered on 2026-01-09 (the first Friday that I can anticipate actually being available).

Honestly, I wish I had called the hiatus immediately instead of waiting until I got this far behind, but I think it will work out.

Thank you, and have a very safe and productive day.
